TC Titanium Dioxide Compound Pigment

I. Summary

TC titanium dioxide compound pigment is a kind of compound powder material, which is coated with crystal TiO2 on the surface of inorganic solid particles by inorganic material modification and compound technology. TC titanium dioxide compound pigment has the property similar to titanium pigment because of the property of TiO2 layer on its surface and multi-components synthesis effect of and compound material. TC titanium dioxide compound pigment is prepared in the non- pollution clean response condition, its main raw materials include  partial relatively inexpensive inorganic components, therefore its production cost is lower than titanium dioxide .

TC titanium dioxide compound pigment can be used in coating, plastic, paper making, printing ink, rubber and so on, to improve the products’ performance and reduce their cost.

Preparation and application technology of TC titanium dioxide compound pigment have been completed by means of the expanded experiment, the modeling experiment on the production line and the user comparatively large-scale using. It has been studied by a research group lead by Tsinghua University post-doctorate and Peking University doctor in four years. Which is evaluated for achieved the international advanced level, and has been reported to a higher authority for the national invention patent.

Preparation and application of TC titanium dioxide compound pigment can solve some problems which exist in the titanium dioxide powder production and consumption, such as resources short, environmental pollution, high cost and so on in a certain extent, therefore it has the obvious economy and the social efficiency.

 

IIPrinciple of manufacture

TC titanium dioxide compound pigment is prepared with the inorganic solid particles as core material and TiO2 as wall materials, and it uses some techniques including to ultra-fine of the core material and wall materials, system equalization grain-grain response modification and forming TiO2 coating layer. TC titanium dioxide compound pigment is divided into anatase type  (TC—A)and rutile type(TC—R)according to crystal structure of TiO2 on surface layer.

III.  Property index

The character of TC titanium dioxide compound pigment and relative contrast are shown in the table 1,the result indicates that it has the contiguous character with titanium dioxide and has much more advantageous character than other pigments and fillers.

IV. Application situation

1. The application of TC titanium dioxide compound pigment in building coating

    1) TC-A is applied to interior architectural paint

TC titanium dioxide compound pigment (anatase TC-A) is applied to architectural paint for interior wall, replacing anatase TC-A by the same proportion or replacing rutile TC-R by 1:3,for maintaining the property and reducing costs.

    2) TC-R is applied to exterior architectural paint

TC titanium dioxide compound pigment (rutile TC-R) is applied to exterior architectural paint, using titanium dioxide alone by1.125, for improving its anti-aging and reducing greatly costs.

2. The application of TC titanium dioxide compound pigment in plastic color master batch

Different color master batch is prepared separately with TC titanium dioxide compound pigment(anatase TC-A、rutile TC-R), anatase titanium dioxide(R-818、R-902)and rutile titanium dioxide(YT-A), then is molded the templet with polypropylene(PP)(thickness 2.5mm).

The result shows that the property of TC-A or TC-R plastic is close to that of using anatase titanium dioxide or rutile titanium dioxide in the same condition, Meanwhile, their dispersion and processing are not changed. So instead of titanium dioxide it is feasible to retain plastic property and reduce cost.

3. The application of TC titanium dioxide compound pigment in PVC plastics plate

Taken PVC as resin, PVC plastics plates are prepared with TC titanium dioxide compound pigment(anatase TC-A)or anatase titanium dioxide(BA0101)as pigment separately(proportion 4%). Compared them, mechanical capability of TC-A board molding is clearly improved, their appearance is the same. So instead of titanium dioxide it is feasible to retain PVC property and reduce cost.

Besides, TC titanium dioxide compound pigment can be used to power paint with the same proportion instead of, fabricating technique of power paint holds the line, the coating white is the same with titanium dioxide, coating cost is reduced.

 

V.  Advantage and peculiarity

(1) Functional design and preparation technology of TC titanium dioxide compound pigment have achieved the international advanced level. It is initiatory at home and overseas.

(2) As the property of TiO2 on surface and result of multi- components effect of the compound material, the property of TC titanium dioxide compound pigment eerformance is excellent in granularity, dispersivity and compatibility.

(3) It can be used in multitudinous fields where physical feature of titanium dioxide is utilized, such as paint, paper making, plastic, printing ink and so on.

(4) Product cost is reduced large. The product price is 2000-4000 Yuan/ton lower than titanium dioxide.  

(5) The production of TC titanium dioxide compound pigment is carried on in clean condition, it does not pollute environment. Its application can reduce the use of titanium resources and the environment load, greatly save the use of water. This conforms to industrial policy of the national natural resources highly effective use and the standing development.
